MP: Ancient canon stolen

Shivpuri(MP), Aug 23: An ancient Mughal-era canon made of 'Ashtadhatu' was stolen from the historic Narwar fort in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh, police said today.

Police said the seven-feet long canon, which weighed around 30 quintal, had been kept at the 'Kachahari Mahal' premises. Police is investigating into the mysterious theft that was reported to police yesterday.

Narwar fort was among the oldest royal monument in Gwalior region. During the Mughal period, Narwar fort had the pride possession of several canons. According to historians, Mughal rulers longed to capture the artillery of Narwar ruler, but could not succeed.

Kachhwaha Raja Man Singh was the prominent ruler of Narwar during the Mughal period.
