5 arrested for procuring fake voters' identity cards

Bangaon, Aug 23 (UNI) At least five people, including two women, were taken into custody yesterday from Kurulia village under Bagdah police station in North 24 Parganas for allegedly producing fake voters' identity cards.

Police here today said the arrests were made on the basis of an FIR lodged by Block Development Officer Krishnendu Basak, who alleged that they had procured fake documents to enlist their names in the 2006 electoral list of Bagdah constituency Police also said the accused were absconding till yesterday.

All of them would be produced in the sub-divisional court here today, police added.
