VSNL introduces international calling card in UK

London, Aug 22 (UNI) Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL), the communications solutions provider owned by Tatas, today launched its web-based International Calling Service named ''truerootsTM'' in the United Kingdom.

Mr Sandeep Mathur, Head of the VSNL, Corporate Affairs said, ''truerootsTM calling service will enable members of the South Asian community living in the United Kingdom to feel confident about their international calling experience and know that they can connect with their home countries and pay only for the minutes they use at economical rates.'' In a market flooded with calling cards offering cheap international calling rates, truerootsTM is offering a competitive rate of four paise per minute to landline phones in India.

The rates to Pakistan is five paise per minute and to Bangladesh is eight paise per minute. The increasing bilateral trade is another reason for more and more calls being made to India.

But, Mr Syed Anwar Hasan, Managing Director Tata Ltd in the UK assured that truerootsTM is a truly innovative service and will be efficient and dependable.

The service is supported by a 24/7 customer service. Calls are carried on VSNL's extensive global fiber-optic network, one of the world's largest global submarine cable infrastructures, providing unsurpassed quality and capacity and ensuring clear and error free connectivity.
