TNCDA members observe fast to press demands

Chennai, Aug 22 (UNI) Members of the Tamil Nadu and Chennai Chemists and Druggists Association (TNCDA) today observed a day-long fast to draw Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's attention to their long pending demands.

Association General Secretary M Arul Kumar said the fast was to prohibit the entry of MNCs and big Indian companies in retail pharma trade, introduction of Tax fraction formula for input tax credit, taxation of medicines for VAT on MRP at first point of sale and introduction of composition scheme irrespective of the turnover limit.

About 1,000 members of the Chennai district unit of the TNCDA and the President and General Secretaries of 28 districts participated in the fast in front of the State Guest House here.

The fast was inaugurated by All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists President A N Mohan and Organising Secretary P K Das.
