Spencer's has opened 250 outlets across the country
Mumbai, Aug 22 (UNI) Spencer's, a part of Rs 11,500 crore RPG Group, has opened 250 new outlets comprising 11 hyper-markets, 7 super-markets, 3 fresh, 79 express and 150 daily markets across 40 cities including Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata and others.
RPG Enterprises Vice Chairman Sanjiv Goenka told mediapersons here today that, ''The re-launch of Spencer's hyper-market at Inorbit Mall, Malad in June has been a phenomenal success. The re-designed store layout and the introduction of newer categories has increased traffic size to a whopping Rs 2 lakh per month. Thus making it the most widely visited Spencer's store across the country.'' Inspired by this success, Spencer's has laid down strategic plans to expand its footprint across the western region including Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad and Ahmedabad. It also plans to foray into Vadodara and Nashik, thereby increasing the overall area by an additional 1.2 lakh square feet within the next three months.
Mr Goenka further stated, ''Spencer's currently has a national consumer base of over 35 million people who walk into the stores every year. RPG group's retail outlets that include Music World, Books and Beyond and RPG cellucom currently stand at 500 outlets and are expected to grow to 2,000 stores by 2009 with an investment of Rs 15 crore from own funds and banks.''
