Ranchi, Aug 22 (UNI) Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Alamgir Alam today termed as 'unfortunate' the throwing of a copy of the Constitution by an Opposition member at him in the House which the latter denied saying the Treasury bench was trying to divert the attention of the people from actual issues.

After the House was adjourned sine-die following chaos, the Speaker held a press conference and expressed concern over the incidents during the past three days. He added that before the next session an all-party meeting would be convened so that matters of public interest could be taken up for discussion.

''Before the next session, an all party meeting will be held so that all MLAs could at least agree to one important agenda that the matter concerning public at large did not get undermined in the House,'' Mr Alam said.

Asked about alleged throwing of a copy of the Constitution by an Opposition member during the pandemonium, the Speaker said it should not have happened as the Consitution is the ''Geeta of the House''.

He said he made all efforts so that business proceeded unhindered but the members did not let it happen.

Meanwhile, leader of Opposition Arjun Munda (BJP) told UNI that the allegation was baseless and the truth would surface as all proceedings were telecast live.

Mr Munda said they tried to show the book to the Speaker based on which he gave ruling regarding a no-confidence motion notice against him.

As the Speaker went out after adjourning the House sine-die, a member from the Treaury bench came to the press gallery saying Mr Saryu Rai (BJP) threw the book book at the Speaker.
