Raksha Bandhan is special for Malwa's eunuchs

Shajapur, MP, Aug 22 (UNI) Raksha Bandhan has a special significance for Malwa region's eunuchs who place the cowherd god Krishna's idols in swings and sing devotional songs in public.

''We also pray that people be alleviated from difficulties, lead joyous and long lives. Door-to-door visits take place in Shajapur, Ujjain, Dewas, Indore, Mandsaur, Neemuch and Dhar districts,'' eunuch Lakshmi Bai, who has been in this area for the past three decades, told UNI.

It is said that in ancient times, monarchs undertook auspicious activities or went for battle after watching eunuchs' faces as this was believed to bring good fortune.
