PDP not to join LDF, UDF: Maudhani
Kozhikode, Aug 22 (UNI) Declaring that its main agenda was to prepare the party rank and file for social work, the pro-Muslim People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Kerala today ruled out aligning with any principal political formations in the state.
''The PDP will not join either CPI-M led Left Democratic Front or the Opposition United Democratic Front'' but work for the upliftment of the opressed and down-trodden sections,PDP chairman Abdul Nasser Maudhani told newspersons after a day-long central working committee meeting of the party here.
A sub-committee has been formed to formulate guidelines for the party and to prepare the cadres to undertake social work and strengthen its mass base, Mr Maudhani, released recently from Coimbatore prison after nine years incarceration in conneciton with the Coimbatore serial blast case, said.
Ruling out the possibility of a third political front in the state, he said ''the prevailing political situation is not conducive for such an alternative.'' However, he said, the PDP would strive creating a common platform of organisations working among the under-previleged sections of the people and added this could be transformed into a separate political front in the state later.
