MRSA, Malwa Khalsa School qualify
Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Academy, Amritsar and Malwa Khalsa School, Ludhiana qualified for the semi-final league of the sixth S N Vohra Memorial Sub-Junior Under-14 Hockey Tournament being conducted by Rock Rovers Club at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.
Malwa Khalsa School upset defending champions Surjit Hockey Academy of Jalandhar by 3-1 in a league match. Ranjit Singh (23rd), Gagandeep (36th) and Akashdeep (58th) scored one goal each for the winners.
Mandeep Singh reduced the margin for Surjit Academy by scoring a field goal in the 33rd minute.
In another league fixture, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Academy routed Modern Sports School, Rohtak by 5-0 after leading 2-0 at half time.
The highlight of the one-sided match was a fine performance of Randeep Singh who netted three goals, no hat-trick. He struck in the 20th, 47th and 57th minutes. Gurbir Singh contributed two goals (22nd and 35th).
