Monsoon activity declines in MP
Bhopal, Aug 22 (UNI) Monsoon activity declined in Madhya Pradesh with a low-pressure area built over the Bay of Bengal advancing from the state towards Rajasthan.
The Regional Meteorological Department's spokesperson said heavy rains had lashed most parts of Madhya Pradesh -- barring Bhopal and Hoshangabad divisions -- in the past two days due to the low-pressure area.
During this monsoon, 23 districts had received less than average rainfall, 15 had received normal rainfall and 10 had recorded more than average rainfall.
In the absence of widespread rainfall, much water had not been stored in most water bodies.
Light rainfall can occur at isolated places in the state. Monsoon remained active in Gwalior region in the past 24 hours.
Damoh recorded most rainfall overnight at nine cm, followed by Rehli (6 cm), Katangi (5 cm), Shivpuri (5 cm), Sheopur (3 cm), Sagar (3 cm), Gadhakota (3 cm) and Ratlam (3 cm). UNI
