Involve youth in constructive activities:Eden
Kochi, Aug 22 (UNI) Kerala Students Union (KSU) president Hybee Eden today stressed the need for socio-religious organisations to involve the youth in constructive activities to prevent them from going astray.
With the predominantly young Indian population today getting oppportunities undreamt of by previous generations, it was important to channelise their energies in the right direction, he said while inaugurating the seventh 'pratishthavarshikam' of the 'parnashala' at the Ernakulam branch of 'Santhigiri Ashramam'.
The function also marked the beginning of the 81sth birth anniversary celebrartions of Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru, the founder of Santhigiri Ashramam, which will fall on September 16.
Lauding the role played by Santhigiri Ashramam in giving a sense of purpose to youngsters, Mr Eden recalled the active role played by its youth wings in organising medical camps in the city.
Also present on the occasion were Kochi Corporation Councillors T J Vinod and Sabu George, Santhigiri Ashramam president Satyaprakasha Jnanathapaswi and Directors Gurunishchaya Jnanathapaswi and Dharmananda Jnanathapaswi.
Ashramam General Secretary Swami Chaithanya Jnanathapaswi, presiding over the function, recalled the sacrificial life led by Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru to bring about a spiritual renaissance in the world.
The day-long celebrations started with prayers at 3 a.m. This was followed by flag hoisting at 6 a.m., 'sammelanam' at 1000 a.m., 'aradhana and guru pooja' at noon and 'deepa pradakshinam' in the evening.
