First meeting of MEPMA held

Hyderabad, Aug 22 (UNI) The governing body of Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) held its first meeting under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy here today.

The MEPMA is headed by the Chief Minister with Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) as the convener, Senior officers from rural development, finance, Women and Child Welfare, and five representatives from NGOs and SLBC are its members.

The governing body provides overall guidance in formulation and implementation of "Indira Kranti Patham" (IKP) urban strategy. So far Rs 2.20 crore have been released to DRDAs of 22 districts of the state for IKP urban activities.
