Fake currency racket busted in Kapurthala

Kapurthala, Aug 22 (UNI) Police today busted a racket of fake currency notes and recovered counterfeit of Rs 60,000 with the arrest of three persons.

Talking to mediapersons here today, SSP Rakesh said that on a tip off, police intercepted a car at a police check post near village Dainwind and arrested its three occupants after recovering counterfeit of Rs 60,000 in the denomination of 100.

The accused were identified as Gurvinder Singh, Parminder Singh and Ravinder Kumar, all residents of Kapurthala, he said.

During the preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that they had brought the conterfeit notes from Delhi for distribtuion among the rice sheller owners and commision agents.

Some more arrests were expected in this case, the SSP said.

Police has registered a case under section 489 A, B, C IPC against the accused.
