CM inaugurates Nari Seva Sadan

Shimla, Aug 22 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh dedicated Nari Seva Sadan at Mashohbra in district Shimla, constructed at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh to the helpless, destitute, deranged and socially neglected women of the state here today. Chief Minister said such institutions were endeavour towards facilitating the neglected women of the society who had no source of income for their sustenance.

He said state government had accorded top priority to social welfare sector and was spending half of the budgetary provisions on this vital sector.

Mr Singh said Rs.60 crore were being spent annually over providing 2,37,250 old age, widows and handicapped social security pension which were being delivered to them through money order at their home addresses.

Funds would not be any constraint in fulfillment of the social welfare commitment of the state government towards the vulnerable sections of the society, he said.

Chief Minister said state had three Nari Seva Sadans at Shimla, Chamba and Mandi while the 4th was being opened by an NGO at Nahan where eligible women are being admitted and provided free boarding, lodging, clothes, health care and vocational training for their rehabilitation.

Efforts were also made to get such women married so that they were provided future security and could lead a socially respectable life, he said.

Chief Minister assured all possible help to the Nari Seva Sadan and advised the Management to cater to the social welfare service of the women admitted and provided social security.
