CII delegation visits new airport

Hyderabad, Aug 22 (UNI) A 20-member delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Andhra Pradesh unit today visited the Hyderabad International Airport in Shamshabad being developed in partnership with the Andhra Pradesh Government, GMR and consortium companies.

The management of GMR presented the details to the delegation, comprising CII Southern Region Deputy Chairman B V R Mohan Reddy and CII Andhra Pradesh Chairman Pradeep Dhobale. The delegation went around the construction site and saw the facilities and amenities at the upcoming airport and expressed satisfaction over the progress of the work.

It stressed on the strong need for rail connectivity to meet increasing passenger traffic, both domestic and international, in the new airport.

The rail link would render ease and efficiency to commute to the airport since it would take around 23 minutes from the city to Shamshabad and reduce the traffic congestion in the city.

They said several international airports in cities like Singapore, Hong Kong and Frankfurt had similar rail connectivity.
