Charas and illegal timber seized in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police seized illegal timber and charas from smugglers in the Kashmir valley, police spokesman said today.

He said a special patrol party from police post Chogal, acting on a specific information, maintained a close vigil near the bus stop and seized one and half kg of charas from a person.

He said Vilgam police also seized timber worth Rs two lacs from three timber smugglers at Panzalpora. One of the smuggler was identified as Bashir Ahmad Sheikh who was posted as a watchman in the forest department of the area.

All three smugglers were later arrested by the police, he said.
