Centre asked NE states to accelerate poverty alleviation

Agartala, Aug 22 (UNI) Ministry of Rural Development has asked North East (NE) states to accelerate the implementation of various poverty alleviation programmes.

It also informed that the ministry was monitoring the activities to ensure successful implementation of the schemes.

Referring the ministry's communication, planning department officials here today said that the centre had put in place a comprehensive multi-tool monitoring mechanism with its agencies.

Officials said besides, direct interaction with the state governments and the district level officers involved in the implementation of these programme, the ministry had developed a mechanism of getting feedback from the people.

According to the decision, employment is to be provided to a registered job seeker holding a job card and states were permitted to apply for increment of funds upon utilisation of 60 per cent of the available funds under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).
