CBI suffers staff shortage
New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) The country's premier investigating agency Central Bureau of Investigation has as many as 1,341 vacant posts in a sanctioned strength of 5,959 personnel.
Stating this in a written reply to a query by Mrs Sumitra Mahajan of BJP in Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Personnel Suresh Pachouri said the vacancies have, however, not adversely affected performance of the CBI because of effective use and deployment of existing personnel.
He said occurrence and filling-up of vacancies is an ongoing process, adding the government has introduced a special incentive allowance for all ranks of personnel in the agency to attract officers to join CBI. The recruitment rules of various posts are also amended, as and when necessary, to fill up vacancies speedily, he added.
