Kohima, Aug 22 (UNI) The 12-hour Kohima bandh, called by Angami Students Union (ASU) and Angami Youth Organization (AYO), to protest the attempts on lives of two student leaders by NSCN (K), ended at 1800 hrs today.

All the Government offices, business establishments, shops, banks and educational institutes remained closed and vehicles were off the roads.

However, hospitals, pharmacies, para-military forces, police, media and funeral services were exempted from the purview of the bandh.

The volunteers of both the organizations were patrolling the thoroughfares of the town to enforce the bandh and even the pedestrians were not allowed to go anywhere.

This was the second phase of the phase-wise agitation in Kohima town.

Earlier, Kohima town observed a two-day bandh on Friday and Saturday last, demanding the NSCN (K) authority to punish the 'culprits' responsible for attempting on the lives of former ASU President Medo Yokha and ASU tribunal member Neiketouzo Kuotsu on August 16 last.

But the NSCN (K) authority did not respond till the deadline of 1500 hours of August 20 last.

Meanwhile, a meeting has been organized by the ASU and the AYO here to chalk out their future course of agitation.
