UPA to support Mayawati govt: Khurshid

Gonda, Aug 21 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Salman Khurshid today said the Congress-led UPA government at the centre will extend all its support to the Mayawati government in development works.

Over the demand of Rs 80,000 crore package by the Mayawati government, he said the centre had no objection in providing funds to the state government, as far as it is used for development projects.

''Congress would also expect the state government to follow its suggestions,'' Mr Khurshid stressed.

Speaking about the Indo-US nuclear deal, he said the opposition parties should support the deal as it would only benefit the country.

The Congress leader was here to attend a party function.
