TVS Tyres launches 3 new tyres

Ahmedabad, Aug 21 (UNI) Two- and three-wheeler tyre manufacturer major TVS Srichakra Limited has announced the launch of three new generation tyres including the country's first puncture-resistant tubeless tyre, first time in Western India, here today.

Addressing reporters, TVS Tyres Executive vice-president (operations and marketing) S Balasubramanian said the puncture resistant tubless tyre is an absolutely revolutionary technology, the first of its kind in the country.

''We are pleased to bring to the Indian market the country's first pucture-resistant tubless tyres for two wheelers, which will give the Indian two-wheeler riders greater safety and increased control over rough Indian roads,'' he said.

The puncture-resistant tubeless tyres come with a self-sealing technology that allows no loss of air pressure in the event of a puncture, withstanding air pressure even with a penetration of any puncture material of 3 mm thickness. These tyres are specially designed for Indian roads, where frequent punctures are common, he said.

The technology involves the use of coating with worldwide-patented, PU-based sealant gelon in the inner surface of the tread of a regular tyre. A unique spreading technique is used to ensure a uniform and balanced coating on the inner surface, he explained.

With zero maintenance, the tyres require only regular IP air check throughout the tyre's life. This tyre is priced in a range of Rs 700 to 990, depending upon various models, he said.

Mr Subramanian said two weeks ago, the company had launched these products in Kerala and chose Ahmedabad as the second launch pad.

He said the company had achieved a sales turnover of Rs 468 crore in the last financial year and is targetting at Rs 568 crore in the current fiscal.

Along with tubeless tyres, TVS has also launched -- Poly X (polyester fabric tyres) ideal for high speed bikes and Anaconda -- dual tread tyres with double tread.
