Telangana struggle inspired Namboodiripad: Karat

Khammam, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 21 (UNI) Taking inspiration from the Telangana armed struggle, the then Kerala Chief Minister E M S Namboodiripad had initiated land reforms in that State, CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat said today.

The armed struggle in Telangana was also an inspiration to the Marxist governments in West Bengal and Tripura for according priority to land reforms, taking surplus land from landlords and giving them to poor, he said at a public meeting here.

Mr Karat vowed to intensify the second phase of land struggle in Andhra Pradesh from Mudigonda, where seven people were killed in police firing during the first phase of the land stir.
