Nagaland: Org demand suspension of OC
Kohima, Aug 21: The Phom People's Council(PPC) and Phom Students' Conference (PSC) today demanded the state government to immediately suspend the Officer-in-Charge(OC) of Tuensang Police Station where three NSCN-IM cadres were killed by an irate mob on August 18.
The PPC and PSC, in a joint release here today said that in an emergency meeting held at Longleng, the district headquarters, on August 19, also demanded to constitute an enquiry committee and bring the culprits to justice.
The meeting also admitted that the three NSCN-IM cadres had hurt the sentiment of the public by their reported acts of 'tax collection' and said that the ''ugly incident'' could have sorted out amicably had the public not gone ''rampant''.
It further questioned the civil administration as to why the mob was allowed to break into the police station.
It may be mentioned that an irate mob had beaten to death three NSCN-IM members inside the Tuensang police station on August 18 after the three were arrested for shooting a policeman on the leg and collection of 'tax'.
