Need to provide quality technical education, says Kidwai

Panipat, Aug 21 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai today stressed the need for providing world standard scientific and technical education to meet the growing demand of scientists, technocrats and engineers in multinational companies (MNCs).

He was addressing an Orientation Day function of N C Engineering College at Israna in the district after inaugurating two new colleges_ S D Institute of Technology and Management and S D College of Management_ within Engineering College premises.

Dr Kidwai said that India had emerged as the main sources of scientific and technical manpower in the world and around 400 MNCs were planning to open their research and development and production centres in the country.

Participation of Indian scientists and engineers in various fields like Information Technology, Management and Microsoft was significant world over, he said and added that India had achieved leadership in automobile, medicines and many other sectors in the world.

Impressed by the standard of education, dedication and commitment of Indian doctors, scientists and technicians, the World Trade Organisation and the countries like USA, Australia, Canada and also number of European countries have relaxed their Immigration and VISA conditions for these categories of Indians, he said.

He exhorted educational instituitions to give the best education of quality and standard and help the country emerge as the major economic power of the world and achieve the distinction of a developed country by 2020. He, however, pointed out that liberalization of policies, financial management and uniform standard of education in the institutions was required to keep pace with the developed economies.

State Technical Education Director M P Gupta outlined the incentives being given by the Haryana Government for promotion of technical education in the state and claimed that the enrolement of women in technical studies had increased from 16 per cent to 29 per cent in the last three years.
