Meira inaugurates training programme for Backward Classes youth
New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Meira Kumar today inaugurated a training programme for Backward Classes youth, sponsored by National Backward Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) at Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), Gurgaon.
On the occasion, the Minister said the training in skill up-gradation was important for Backward Classes as they were mostly connected with the traditional economic activities, which need continuous up-gradation to match the market requirement.
She expressed hope that after the successful completion of training, the beneficiaries would get an opportunity to work with the garment industry which will mitigate their hardships by enhancing their income level.
Ms Kumar said NBCFDC had established linkages with the best institutions of the country. ATDC is one among them and Ministry has also sanctioned Rs 99 lakh to it through NBCFDC for these training programmes for 1150 Backward Class beneficiaries.
The NBCFDC is providing financial assistance to the eligible members of Backward Classes in various trades and occupations and it had so far disbursed over Rs 1200 crore to cover more than eight lakh beneficiaries in the country.
