Maharashtra Agro Chem's license suspended

Chandigarh, Aug 21 (UNI) The Haryana government has suspended the insecticide manufacturing licence of Maharashtra Agro Chem Private Ltd, Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district with immediate effect for manufacturing and selling 'misbranded' insecticides.

An official spokesman today said a committee of insecticide inspectors from the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Union Government, Faridabad inspected the unit and observed that few labelled, unlabelled and unauthorised containers were found stocked in a sealed room on the first floor of the factory premises.

The laboratory of the unit was not found functional and no chemist was working in the unit.

He said that the unit was issued a show cause notice and the representatives of the firm appeared before the Licencing Officer-cum-Director of Agriculture, Haryana and failed to explain the actual position.

The Licencing Officer then suspended the licence of the company with immediate effect, by excercising the power under section 12 and 14 of the Insecticides Act, 1968.
