Gulbarga, Aug 21 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said that the Amendement to the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee's Act (APMC) was made due to pressure from the Union government.
However, the Chief Minister allied all fears over the amendment saying that it was done keeping the interests of farmers and it would benefit farmers, workers and labourers. The Centre, following the amendement, would provide funds for development of APMC yards in the state, he added.

He said that the State government was keen in constructing airport in Gulbarga in an efforet to attract industrialists to establish industries in this most backward region.
Earlier the Chief Minister got down from the car and assured agitating corporation workers to concede their demand for regularisation. The workers had stopped the Chief Minister's convoy.
