Ambedkar idol's desecration creates tension

Lucknow, Aug 21 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Jamania area of Ghazipur district today, following desecration of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar's idol.

According to police, the incident occurred late last night at village Baruin, where the idol was vandalised by some anti-social elements.

Irated over the incidents, a mob took to street and blocked the Jamania-Saiyyadraja road, leading to traffic snarls for a couple of hours.

The demonstrators could only be pacified after senior officials got the desecrated idol repaired and assured stringent action against the accused.

Meanwhile, PAC in strength had been deployed to prevent fresh violence.

A manhunt had been launched to arrest the absconding persons behind the incident.
