273 vocational training centres registered in HP
Shimla, Aug 21 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said the state government had registered 237 vocational training centres in the state, which were equipping the youth with skills in different trades.
Presiding over the 10th Meeting of the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT), he said it could be instrumental in generating employment to the unemployed youth.
The Chief Minister said his government had permitted recognition to all the degrees and diplomas passed from within and outside the state by the youth of the state upto the year 2005 by liberalising the policy with a view to providing them opportunity to apply for various vacancies created in different government departments besides in the industrial sector.
Over three lakh avenues had been created during last four years and offered vast employment opportunities to the skilled manpower, he said.
Mr Singh said vocational qualification had emerged the need of the hour since nowadays there was requirement of technically qualified persons who were proficient in their trades.
