Moga, Aug 20: The Animal Husbandry Department in Punjab has geared up to conduct fresh livestock census in the state from September 15 to October 15 to know the exact population of animals.

Animal Husbandry Joint Director Darshan Singh today said the Department had already given training to the senior medical officers of the department who had further given training to their subordinate staff.

About 5500 enumerators would be deployed for the purpose and 500 supervisors would oversee the process.

Dr Darshan Singh was here to review the arrangements for conducting the census in Moga district.

The department, he said, had directed the officers to perform the operation thoroughly so that the exact figure of all kinds of animals comes to the fore and policies and programmes for the uplift of livestock owners could also be planned accordingly.
