Kazakh leader's party wins crushing victory

ASTANA, Aug 19 (Reuters) Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's party won 88 per cent of the vote in a parliamentary election with all other parties failing to reach a 7 per cent hurdle for representation, results showed today.

Central Election Commission chairman Kuandyk Turgankulov read out preliminary results from yesterday's election in the oil-producing Central Asian state.
