Dera Sacha Sauda rejects accusations on its chief

Meerut, Aug 19: The Dera Sacha Sauda today said its Chief, Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, has been falsely implicated in several criminal cases, including criminally assaulting a woman, by some politicians and liquor mafia who want to protect their own interests.

Addressing a press conference in Barnawa, Dera Saccha Sauda spokesperson Dr Aditya said due to the increasing popularity of the group and its crusade against liquor, some politicians and mafias were making desperate attempts to spoil its image.

At least 1 crore women, who are a part of the group, were anxious about these false accusations. The Baba had adequate proof for proving his innocence which would be presented in court, he claimed.

Talking about the summons, asking Gurmit Singh to be present before the court on August 31, Dr Aditya said the Dera chief respected judiciary and would follow the directions given during the court proceedings.

All Religion Social Welfare Women Society President Charan Preet Kaur said the Dera Chief has been falsely implicated in these cases because of his active involvement in social work and crusade against liquor and women-related crimes.

She sought to know as to why alleged rape victim Sadhvi Sharma chose to remain silent for five years. She expressed her astonishment saying how one anonymous letter could raise doubts about the modesty of lakhs of women members of the group.

A Dera Saccha Sauda worker Navjot Kaur said several news channels were providing one sided information without confirming actual truth behind such allegations.
