SFI sweeps SCA elections in university

Shimla, Aug 18 (UNI) The red flag again flew high in Himachal Pradesh University consecutively for the fourth time with the Students Federation of India (SFI) making a clean sweep on the campus, winning all the four seats in elections to the Students Central Association held here today.

The ABVP finished second while NSUI was nowhere in the reckoning.

There was a photo finish for the post of President as ABVP candidate Ashish Sharma lost by a slender margin of 42 votes to Naresh Kumar of SFI.

Rajneesh Thakur (SFI) defeated Kamal Kant of ABVP by a margin of 199 votes for the post of vice president, while Anchal Guleria (SFI) humbled Pallavi Bhardwaj of ABVP by 160 votes for the post of general secretary.

The post of Joint Secretary was also bagged by SFI and its candidate Rashmi Thakur defeated Rajni Kalia by 169 votes.

The SFI dominated the scene in the election to the post of Department Representatives as well, by winning on 23 out of 39 posts.
