Salem Divisional limits only after CM-level talks:Lalu Prasad

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 18 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today assured the Kerala government that the limits of the proposed Salem Railway Division in Tamil Nadu would be decided only after necessary talks between Kerala and Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers.

This was informed to Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan by Mr Prasad, when he phoned him to express the state's anguish over the Railway Ministry's decision to go ahead with the formation of Salem Division with its existing proposals, an official release said here.

As talks between the two Chief Ministers could not be held earlier, the limit of Palakkad and Salem Divisions would be decided only after necessary discussion, he said and added that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had also suggested to hold talks in this regard.

The Minister also assured that immediate action would be taken for the development of the Railway network in the state, the release added.
