Remo rejects State Award
Panaji, Aug 18 (UNI) Reputed pop singer and musician Remo Fernandes has spurned an award instituted by the Goa government, flaying the ruling and opposition parties for their ''dirty role in looting the state through the controversial Regional Plan-2011''.
He regretted the failure of the respective state governments in spotting and recognising Goan talent at the right time.
Remo, the recipient of the Padmashri award last year, said it would be ridiculous if he received the state award today.
Remo had conveyed his feelings through a letter sent to the department of art and culture.
The state award, being presented to 21 people today by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, carries Rs.50,000 besides a citation and a shawl each.
