New Delhi, Aug 18 (UNI) BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan today demanded that the Union Urban Development Ministry allot plots to the remaining 26,000 applicants who have not been allotted any plot so far under the Rohini Residential Scheme 1981 before closing it.

Closing the scheme without allotting plots would be a betrayal to the remaining people, Dr vardhan said in a statement issued here.

The DDA plans to close the scheme by saying that it does not have any land to allot plots to the remaining applicants. It is also alleging that people are selling their plots to other people and hence, it is not necessary to give them plots.

Dr Vardhan said thousands of plots were still LYING vacant in Sector 19 to 37 of the Rohini Residential Scheme Phase IV and V.

Several acres of land was available under the possession of DDA. By developing this land, it should be allotted the remaining people, he added.

''Those people who had got their demands registered for plots 26 years ago are being betrayed by the DDA in their old age.'' How can they be turned away saying that no land was available, Dr Vardhan sought to know, adding that it was the DDA's duty to allot plots by acquiring land.

Alleging that this year DDA sold plots for crores of rupees by giving newspaper advertisements every month, Dr Vardhan said,'' the DDA was behaving like a land and a builder mafia.

At least 25,366 applicants were still to be allotted land under aforesaid scheme.

He demanded that these people be allotted plots on a priority basis and only after that any other scheme should be considered.

He also demanded that the Union Urban Development Minister should return the file proposing closure of Rohini Residential Scheme 1981 without approving it, with the direction that it was the moral and departmental responsibility of the DDA to allot plots to the remaining people.
