IYFT appeals to Centre, state govt for solving insurgency problem

Agartala, Aug 18 (UNI) Indigenous Youth Federation of Tripura (IYFT), a frontal organisation of tribal based political party of Indigenous Nationalist party of Tripura (INPT), has appealed to both the Centre and the state government to take steps to solve insurgency problem of the state.

Talking to UNI today, IYFT general secretary Rajeswar Debbarma, MLA, said '' we want a suitable solution to the insurgency problem and bring back peace in this north eastern state.'' Mr Debbarma said the youth wing of INPT had appealed to both the state and central governments to initiate positive steps to solve the insurgency problem through dialogue.

Mr Debbarma also said that a two-day state convention of the organisation will be held at Khumulawn, the headquarters of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous district council from August 27.

Leaders of INPT will also take part in the convention to discuss among other things about various demands which include introduction of inner line permit in the state, political solution to the ongoing insurgency problem, withdrawl of disturbed areas act and revoking NASA.

The organisation reiterated its demand for 50 per cent seat, reservation for tribals in the Assembly and more power to the TTAADC.
