Four held for trying to sell Crocodile skin

Bangalore, Aug 18 (UNI) The city police today arrested four persons, including two from Tamil Nadu, when they were trying to sell crocodile skins in the city.

Cottonpet police said the four, who had come in a car, were trying to sell the contraband in the heart of the city. Working on a definite information, police arrested them and confiscated the crocodile skin valued at Rs six lakh and the car.

The arrested were identified as Jaipal and Dharman of Hosur in Tamil Nadu and Yakub from the city and Wilfred Issac of Mangalore.

The arrested revealed that they had killed crocodiles in the Cauvery river near Hogenakal falls on the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border. Two other members of the gang were at large.

Cases have been booked under Wildlife Protection Act, police said.
