Electronic items seized at Agartala airport

Agartala, Aug 18: Airport security personnel have seized a large number of electronic items from Agartala airport's cargo division.

A complaint has been registered against the two courier service companies operating here.

Acting on a tip-off, special branch officials yesterday seized the consignments estimated to be worth Rs 6.40 lakh, which arrived from Kolkata in an Indian flight, police said here.

''The consignment included FM band radios, mobile sets, charge lights and calculators among others, which was sent by air cargo as household items to avoid sale tax,'' police officials informed adding that the courier service employees have admitted that such items were often transported by air.

Police have registered a case against the courier service concerns.
