Devotees throng Nag temple
Ujjain, Aug 18 (UNI) About one lakh devotees offered prayers and performed rituals at the Nagchandreshwar temple located at the Mahakaleshwar temple complex here on the occasion of Nagpanchami today.
The Nagchandreshwar temple located on the third floor of the Mahakaleshwar temple, one of the 12 jyotirlingas, is opened only once a year on the occasion of Nagpanchami.
After religious rituals last night, the temple door was opened by Mahanirvani Akhada's priest Prakashji Maharaj.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Bhartiya Jan Shakti President Uma Bharti also took part in the 'pooja'.
About 10,000 devotees were already in the queue when the temple was opened for 24 hours. More than 50,000 people had offered prayers by noon.
Elaborate arrangements, including security, had been made at the Mahakal Eshwar temple complex keeping in view heavy rush of devotees.
