CPI(ML) for restoring Chief Information Commission

Puducherry, Aug 18 (UNI) Taking strong exception to the decision to wind up the Chief Information Commission in the Union Territory, the Puducherry Unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) today urged the administration to take immediate steps with the Centre to restore the same.

In a statement here, CPI(ML) Secretary S Balasubramanian said the UPA government, with the winding up of the commission, had created a situation wherein people here had to approach the Union Home Ministry for information.

This was a clear intervention into the rights of the state by the Centre, he alleged.
