BJP MP expresses concern over Mahesra bridge damage

Gorakhpur, Aug 18 (UNI) Expressing concern over damage to Mahesra bridge over the Rohin river, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Yogi Adityanath today said it will adversely affect tourism.

''The over 40-year-old bridge on the National Highway connects the city with the neighbouring Himalyan kingdom of Nepal. Every year, lakhs of tourists visit Gorakhpur. I am concerned, if the bridge is not repaired in right earnest, it would badly affect tourism,'' the Yogi said while talking to newspersons here.

The BJP MP also said ''I have met the National Highway Authority chairperson and he has assured the construction of a new bridge soon.'' He alleged following the damage, people were posed with hardships, but the local administration was apathetic.
