Army Chief visits BEL
Bangalore, Aug 18 (UNI) Chief of Army Staff General J J Singh today called upon Defence Public Sector Unit Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to enhance its technological capability to meet the current and future requirements of the Force Gen Singh who visited the Bangalore complex of BEL here wanted the Army to be technologically well-equipped, especially in night-vision capabilities.
He was received by BEL Chairman and Managing Director V V R Shastry and was shown a presentation on BEL and its capabilities.
The Army Chief was briefed about the current and future projects undertaken by the company for the Army. BEL's radars, communication sets, night-vision devices, electronic warfare equipment as well as Command and Control Systems which were essential to network centric warfare, were displayed.
Gen Singh recalled his long association with BEL and its products ranging from the Low Flying Detection Radar to the Electronic Voting Machines.
He complimented BEL for its impressive work in the field of electronics, communication, electronic warfare and surveillance and expressed hope that the company would be a partner of the armed forces to enhance self-reliance and indigenisation in the field of defence.
