TRS chief forms 94-member State Committee
Hyderabad, Aug 17 (UNI) Forming a 94-member State Committee as part of efforts to give a thrust to the movement for separate Telangana State, Telangana Rashtra Samiti President and former Union Labour Minister K Chandrasekar Rao today said the party was no ''sensex to witness volatility''.
Giving 60 per cent of the posts to the weaker sections of the society, the party State Committee had been recast to spearhead a relentless struggle to achieve Telangana State, he told a press conference here.
The party would step up its stir in a phased manner to press for the implementation of the Sachar Committee report, Mr Rao said, adding that a public meeting would be held on August 26 to take up cudgels for Muslim minorities.
Denying that the party had been weakened of late, he said ''the TRS' base is intact. The party is no sensex to go up and down every day.'' The party had grown from strength to strength, he said, referring to his facile win in the Karimnagar Lok Sabha bypoll and an ''impressive'' performance in the Legislative Council elections from the Graduates Constituency in the Telangana region.
The party-led Union had performed better than the unions affiliated to the ruling Congress and the main opposition Telugu Desam Party in the recently-held Singareni Collieries elections, he added.
Mr Rao said the State Committee would meet shortly to chalk out multi-pronged strategies to achieve the party's one-point agenda of statehood for Telangana.
The newly-formed State Committee included 11 Vice-Presidents, 29 General Secretaries and 52 Secretaries.
