Three farmers commit suicide in West Vidarbha

Akola, Aug 17 (UNI) Three farmers, two of them hailing from Akola district and one from adjoining Buldhana district in West Vidarbha region have committed suicide during the last 48 hours.

Pravin Najukrao Modak, (23) a resident of Muritjapur taluka in Akola district consumed poison to end his life yesterday, police said. He was rushed to the district hospital where he breathed his last.

He had six acres of land however, due to constant failure of crops and increasing loan burden, he took the extreme step, the family sources said.

In another incident, one Shivram Shankar Hatole (70) a resident of Patur taluka in Akola district consumed poison on August 15. His son found his body, police and family sources said.

In the third incident, Kisanrao Gulabrao Deshmukh (55) a resident of Dhad taluka in adjoining Buldhana district, committed suicide by consuming poison on August 14.

In a suicide note the deceased stated that he took the extreme step as he could not repay the loan which was taken for his daughter's marriage, the family sources said.
