SP demands CBP probe on alleged attack on Azam Khan

Lucknow, Aug 17(UNI)Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav today demanded a CBI probe into the alleged attack on party leader Azam Khan in Rampur on August 13.

Mr Yadav, along with some of the party legislators, met Governor T V Rajeswar at the Rajbhawan and demand more security cover for Mr Khan after the incident.

In the memorandum, the SP president alleged that on August 13 night, some people tried to attack Mr Khan outside his residence at Rampur.

'' The local administration of Rampur was behind the conspiracy and they were instigating communal riot in the region to take political mileage in view of the by-election to the Suar Tanda assembly seat on August 31'', the memorandum said.

Demanding a CBI probe into the incident, he said that the Governor has been apprised about the conspiracy to create communal disturbances in the state.
