SJVN starts generating power after five days
Shimla, Aug 17 (UNI) India's biggest 1500 MW power project Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) started generating power from last evening, after being affected for last five days due to silt deposits in the river caused by cloudburst and heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh.
DGM SJVN V K Verma said the silt level in Sutlej had increased to maximum level of upto 55,000 Partical Per million (PPM), which had now come down to 4,000 PPM.
The project is now generating 1250 MW of electricity, which was being supplied to eight states of northern region mainly Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, he added.
