No plan to open GSEL type exchange in metro cities:Govt
New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) The Government today informed the members in the Lok Sabha in a written reply that the Gauhati Stock Exchange Ltd (GSEL) is not having any turnover since September 2003, said the Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal.
Mr Bansal said the Government has no plan to make GSEL type any other exchange in the metro cities.
He said the authorities have laid down a non-discriminatory regulatory framework for stock exchanges. It is for the stock exchange and its constituents to carry on business in compliance with the regulatory framework. However, the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved the corporatisation and demutualisation scheme of GSEL on August 29th, 2005.
