Bhopal, Aug 17 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has denied irregularities or violation of rules in purchase and sale of vehicles worth Rs 72 lakh by his wife.

In his written reply to a letter by Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi in this regard, Mr Chouhan said as per her wishes, he would make public details of his movable and immovable property on the floor of the House.

He distributed photocopies of his reply to press here today.

The letter stated that baseless allegations were being levelled against him and his family and he did not deem it necessary to provide reply for it. However, he respected the curiosity of the Opposition Leader and would like to state the fact so that people did not have any misconceptions.

He said his wife Sadhna Singh had purchased four trucks for Rs 72 lakh. Ninety per cent of the amount was financed by the Tata Finance Company.

He said required margin money had been deposited and installments were being paid as per rules. However, the vehicles were sold to J P Company in July 2007 due to personal rules.

Mr Chouhan denied allegations of being biased in allocating godowns or benefitting a company as baseless, as all the rules had been adhered to.

He said Ms Devi had mentioned in her letter that accumulating wealth was not illegal but sources of amount should be made clear.

He said source was clear in this case.

Mr Chouhan expressed his gratefulness to Ms Devi for accepting his clean image.

Referring to the letter written by Ms Devi on August 11, he said his commitment for development and industrialisation of Madhya Pradesh was well known and added that doors were open for anyone who wanted to play a role in it.
