Uttar Pradesh: Gujarat cop shot in Etah

Lucknow, Aug 17: An Additional Superintendent of Police of Gujarat was shot at and seriously wounded by a wanted criminal in Etah district of Uttar Pradesh.

Police said here that ASP (Vadodra) Himanshu Shukla was shot at and injured by one Miraj alias Guddu, a wanted criminal by Gujarat police in various cases of dacoity.

Shukla, along with Sub-Inspector A M Syed had gone to the residence of Guddu last night, but found the door locked. While they were returning, Shukla found a person matching the discription of Guddu.

On being challenged, Guddu opened fire and injured Shukla. S-I Syed retaliated, but Guddu managed to escape.

ASP Shukla was rushed to Agra Medical College by the Etah police where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

Local policemen claimed that Shukla had not taken the assistance of the Etah police to nab the criminal and proceeded on his own.

Shukla and Syed were in Etah for the last two days.
